Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has said he is certain the club will end the season with silverware.
Iheanacho, 19, enhanced his growing reputation with his fifth goal of the season in City’s 3-0 victory at Norwich City on Saturday.
The FA Cup third-round victory keeps the Blues in the hunt for all four major trophies and Iheanacho is convinced his side will win of them.
“I think we’re going to go far this season and we’re going to get something,” the Nigerian said.
“We’re going to get trophies this season because we have the players to get it and the manager. We pray we don’t have any injuries and if we don’t get any we will win trophies.”
Iheanacho impressed at Carrow Road with a composed all-round display that was capped by a side-foot finish for City’s second.
He now averages a goal every 61 minutes despite starting only two games this season and there is a clamour among supporters for him to be given more game-time.
But Iheanacho is not eligible to play in Europe after being overlooked by manager Manuel Pellegrini for the Champions League squad in September.
However, Samir Nasri could drop out after surgery on a tendon injury, which is expected to keep the French midfielder out until the semifinal stage.
With just two strikers to choose from — Sergio Aguero and Wilfried Bony, who have both suffered periods out with injury this season — Pellegrini could now promote Iheanacho into that squad, and the forward insists he will be ready if called upon as City aim to shake off their tag as European under-achievers
