ABUJA (Code of Conduct Bureau Report)
The Code of Conduct Bureau and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on information sharing and protocol. The ceremony which took place in the Code of Conduct Bureau Conference Room on Thursday July 31, 2014 had delegates from UNODC, NFIU & CCB in attendance.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman the Code of Conduct Bureau, Sam Saba expressed delight with the signing of the MOU, indicating that the day marks another milestone in the realization of his dream to make the Code of Conduct Bureau an effective anti-corruption agency.
The Co-ordinator and Head of the UNODC Team, Bala Sanga said that the Code of Conduct Bureau has a prominent role to play in the fight against corruption since its mandate is to receive assets and take custody of asset declaration forms. He stated that UNODC will support the Bureau in the area of capacity building and enforcement of the code.
The Director of Education and Advocacy Services of the Bureau, Okokon Essien made a presentation on the mandate, roles and operations of the Code of Conduct Bureau; while Team Leader of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, Preye Idoriboye made a presentation on the structure and mandate of the organization.
