Ahead of the general elections next month, the Sokoto State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC), on Saturday called on Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa to rethink his move earlier and return to the party.
The Director General of the APC governorship campaign organization in the state, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, who was a strong political ally of the former governor, made the call while briefing Journalists on the preparations for today’s flag off of the governorship campaign of its candidate, Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal in Sokoto.
Dingyadi wondered why Bafarawa left the party that he was a party to its formation and joined the crisis-ridden PDP, which he said “is characterised by impunity and injustice”.
“So my appeal to my boss is to rethink and rejoin APC because his political group is in the APC”, he said.
He also said that the APC only fielded credible candidates for the February elections, “a situation that would give the party advantage over other political parties”.
According to Dingyadi, “Politics is about people and development and the only hope we have is in the APC”, adding that the chances of APC to win the February elections was bright because people were tired of bad leadership, corruption and insecurity.
There were unconfirmed reports during the week that Bafarawa was set to stage a dramatic return to the APC less than a year after an intense power play for control of the party in the state with Governor Aliyu Wamakko, forced him to defect to the PDP.
