Delegates to the ongoing National Conference in Abuja are waiting to vote on the report of the Committee on Devolution of Power.
Consequently, the leadership of the conference has placed two ballot boxes borrowed from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, strategically before the delegates for the exercise on Tuesday.
Before proceeding on a short break, Chairman of the conference, Justice Idris Kutigi (rtd), told the delegates not to be intimated by the ballot boxes.
He said the confab secretariat was getting ready for “any eventuality, but we hope we will reach consensus on everything”.
The use of ballot in the voting process comes on the heels of opposition by northern delegates to the use of voice vote in arriving at consensus on recommendations by the various conference committees.
