Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is rumoured to have resigned.
Since Sunday night, Adamu’s purported resignation has dominated conversation, although neither the party nor the Progressive Governors Forum have confirmed it.
However, Daily Trust claims that Adamu submitted his letter of resignation on Sunday evening.
According to a source cited in the story, the party chairman handed his letter of resignation to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Around 4 o’clock on Sunday, the president’s chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, reportedly received the resignation letter.
The APC’s National Caucus and National Executive Committee meetings are slated for July 18 and 19, 2023, in Abuja.
Prior to the NEC, the party is anticipated to host a National Working Committee, or NWC, meeting.
Salihu Lukman, the party’s national vice chairman for the north, and Adamu have been engaged in a constant conflict.
Along with accusations of corruption, Lukman also accuses Adamu of violating the party constitution and acting as the only administrator.
He charged that the 30 billion made from the sale of ballots for the 2023 elections had been wasted by the leadership of Adamu.
