Sen. Abdulfatai Buhari (APC-Oyo North), on Thursday distributed various items worth N150m to people of his constituency.
The items included 15 saloon cars, 172 motor bikes, 72 sewing machines,34 deep freezers, 90 grinding machines, 58 generator sets, 150 farm sprayers and chemicals among others.
Buhari told newsmen in Saki, Saki West Council Area that it was part of his efforts to give back to the society.
“The main job of a senator and other lawmakers is to make laws for the benefit of citizens. That I have been doing with other colleagues.
“I have sponsored eight bills and two of it had sailed through the second reading while others have passed through the first reading’’, he said.
He added that he had facilitated some projects in his district including scholarship to indigent students in all the 13 council of the district.
Chairman of APC in Saki West Council, Mr Kareem Adebayo, who received a saloon car, thanked the lawmaker for the gesture.
“I have been in politics for several years and I have never seen anything close to this, these items are just too numerous and so are the beneficiaries.
“On behalf of other party faithful, I assure you that we will make judicious use of all the items’’, he said.
The empowerment program was witnessed by the Vice Chairman of APC in the state, Mr Alimi Isiaka, and Oyo North Senatorial District APC chairman, Mr Goke Oyetunji.
