Contrary To Insinuations, Bauchi Hasn’t Received FG Bailout Money – Gov Abubakar

BAUCHI-STATE-COUNCIL-OF-EMIRS-VISIT-GOV-ELECT-IN-BAUCHIGovernor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi State has declared that he has not received any money from the Federal Government to pay the four-month salaries the state government owes civil servants in the state.
He stated this on Saturday when the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu, and his Emirate council paid him a Sallah homage at the Government House, Bauchi.
“Up to date, no kobo from the Federal Government has come into the coffers of Bauchi State Government contrary to insinuations by some people”, he said.
The governor was apparently reacting to rumours making the rounds in the state that he had received the funds from the Federal Government to settle salary arrears of workers but has refused to settle the outstanding salary.
Abubakar said, “In a little time, the four months’ salary our government inherited would be cleared. Thereafter, promises made to the people of Bauchi State would be met”.
Responding to the people’s requests through the Emir, the governor explained that rural roads would be given the deserved attention.
According to the governor, rural roads will be constructed to fast track the development programme of the government, which include transportation of humans and farm produce for socio-economic benefit of the people and Nigeria.
Earlier, the Emir, in his speech, told the governor that the state capital and other areas within his emirate had no potable water supply.
Alhaji Adamu also asked for the construction of some link roads, which he said were vital to the socio-economic development of the state.
Other requests included construction of Zaki Dam and others that would provide water for dry season farming, employment of jobless youths and the payment of subsidy on fertilizers.
