Judgment in a case brought by Prince Mohammed Kabir Olaoye against the kingmakers’ selection of Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as Soun of Ogbomoso is scheduled for October 3.
After Oba Jimoh Oyewumi’s transfer on 12 December 2021, the Soun of Ogbomoso stool fell empty, as previously reported by Infostride News.

After attorneys for both sides of the action stamped HOG/27/2022 and filed in July 2022 followed their processes and presented their arguments for and against the litigation, a judgment date was set. Oladapo Atanda represented Olaoye, while Kolawole Fatoye represented Ghandi and the kingmakers.
Among other things, he requested the court to nullify the nomination and start the process over.
First defendant is Oyo State Governor, second defendant is the state’s Attorney General, third defendant is the state’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, fourth defendant is the Ogbomoso North Local Government, fifth defendant is the Ogbomoso North Traditional Council, and sixth defendant is Prince Amos Olawole Olaoye (Mogaji Olaoye ruling house).
The 12th defendant is Prince Ghandi Olaoye, the Soun nominee, while the other 11 are kingmakers led by Chief S.O. Otolorin (Areago of Ogbomoso and chairman), Chief Salawu Ajadi (Jagun), Chief Tijani Abioye (Bara), Cheif David Adeniran Ojo (Ikolaba), and Chief Yusuf Kasali Oladipupo (Abese).
