The newly constituted executive committee of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Cross River State has declared its readiness to conduct primaries ahead of next year’s general elections.
The newly elected state chairman of the party, John Ogar, disclosed this in Calabar shortly after the party’s state congress, where a 37-member executive committee emerged through consensus.
Ogar said the party still has sufficient time for the sale of nomination forms and urged interested aspirants to obtain their forms at the party secretariat.

He downplayed concerns over recent defections from the party, stating that only one member of the newly elected executive had left.
The ADC chairman also criticised politicians who advocate opposition unity but later abandon coalition efforts.
According to him, committed and sincere members of the party remain steadfast despite the political developments.
Ogar pledged to reposition the party and dismissed reports suggesting factionalisation within the ADC in the state.
He maintained that the party remains united and focused ahead of the elections.
The chairman further stated that the congress was conducted in line with the party’s constitution and backed by a court judgment affirming the authority of the state executive to organise congresses.
