The outgoing Commander of 13 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Brig. Gen. Okwudili Azinta, Calabar, on Friday 10th of January said that there was nothing like a militant camp in Cross River.

Azinta said this in Calabar when he handed over the leadership of the command to the next in line, Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru.

“There is no militant camp in Cross River State; the Efut Esighi militant and shrine camp in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River have been totally destroyed by the Nigerian Army.
.
“Cross River State is now free from militancy”, Azinta said.

He said the success recorded against the militants was as a product of zero tolerance to illegal oil bunkering.

He promised that the Army would continue do its best to protect the economic and territorial interest of the country.

“I must commend the officers and soldiers of 13 Brigade for their cooperation and support given to me during the 11 months that I served as the Brigade Commander”, he said.

He also said that Jebbs Street, Calabar, which used to be notorious for illegal oil bunkering in the state had been cleaned up by the Nigerian Army.

He advised the officers and men of the Brigade to work positively towards the growth of the barracks.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Azinta is on transfer to 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Benin, as its new Commander.
