The Ogun state police command has confirmed the death of a suspected smuggler during a fight with men of the Nigeria Customs Service (NSC) Ogun state command in Ayetoro town in Ogun state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirming the incident said four persons including an officer of Customs sustained injuries.
She said a number of vehicles suspected to be carrying contraband goods were intercepted by the officers during which the shooting spree ensued between the suspected smugglers and Customs officers.
Although normalcy is said to have been restored, the State Commissioner of Police, Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the deployment of police officers at strategic places in the affected areas.
