DANI ALVES has quashed rumours about his future following Gonzalo Higuain’s “goodbye” message.
The Juventus star was recently interviewed on Brazilian TV where he was shown a video message from his team-mate.
Higuain’s clip caused controversy when the Argentine declared that it had been a pleasure to play with Alves before saying goodbye.
The striker said: “Dani, brother, what can I say?
“A massive hello from me, you know how much I care about you.
“It was a pleasure and an immense joy to share this year with you, winning titles along the way.
“You know I hold you in huge regard and I wish you all the best with everything you do in life.
“I hope we’ll play together for longer because it truly is a pleasure.
“Bye, genius. Never change, keep spreading your happiness. It’s what matters most in life – laughing and being happy.”
Manchester City want the 34-year-old to swap life in Turin for the Premier League.
Speculation is mounting that he is set to quit Juve and link up with his former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.
And as a result, Higuain’s “goodbye” was taken as evidence that the veteran was on his way.
However, he has taken to Twitter to slam those rumours.
Following a report on Premium TV, Alves posted: “Don’t talk s***, Pipita sent a video to me on a TV programme, do you job well please.”
Despite his apparent denial of his departure, Guardiola is not prepared to give up the hunt for the ace.
The Citizens want Alves and Tottenham’s Kyle Walker to help bolster their defensive ranks.
