HONG KONG, CHINA–(Marketwired – Apr 6, 2014) – On the 21st of March, DatacenterDynamics hosted 70 senior technology executives at the Behind the Cloud conference to discuss and dissect the challenges of Cloud Computing infrastructure.
Sponsored by Atos, Pacnet and hkcolo.net, the conference addressed thought provoking topics such as The Impact of Data Sovereignty on Cloud Computing as well as the commercial, legal and technological challenges of adopting an enterprise level cloud strategy.
“It was a no frills day addressing key concerns for those seriously considering adopting a cloud strategy in Hong Kong. We didn’t try to explain or impose particular ideas or viewpoints, it was just about constructive discussions, that might sometimes be a little bleak but we were mindful that we did not want to sugar coat the difficulties,” said Linda Li, the project manager for the event. “In comparison to the global market, Hong Kong’s approach to cloud adoption is significantly slower. A number of issues have contributed to this slow uptake ranging from government support, limited access to reliable cloud providers, buyer’s confidence, legal and regulatory concerns as well as a shortage in skilled local talent. We wanted to address these issues by starting with awareness. We hope that by encouraging thought leaders to start taking a proactive approach, we will be able to encourage the influencers to discuss these issues more extensively. Hong Kong is a market with still so much opportunity.”
The conference was well received by the participants. Andre Blumberg, Director of IT of CLP said that the event was able to “keep it real” and avoid the marketing spin often associated with the word “Cloud.”
DatacenterDynamics will be making the recorded presentations of the conference available to all, please enquire with Linda Li at linda.li@datacenterdynamics.com direct.
