Former Senate President David Mark has congratulated Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia on his victory at the Supreme Court, urging him to demonstrate magnanimity in his triumph.
The Supreme Court recently upheld Alia’s electoral victory in the March 2023 governorship election in Benue State, dismissing a challenge by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate.
In light of this development, Mark, in a statement issued by his media adviser, Mr. Paul Mumeh, emphasized the need for Governor Alia to embrace inclusivity and unity in governing the state.

Mark urged Alia to extend his leadership to all citizens of Benue State, fostering peace, security, and overall welfare.
He stressed the importance of the governor’s role in promoting a sense of belonging among the people, irrespective of political affiliations.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you and your Deputy Governor, Sam Odey, as well as your team on the recent electoral victory and the successful resolution of the court case,” Mark conveyed in his statement.
He commended Alia’s leadership and the support of the people, acknowledging their contributions to the victory.
Mark also lauded the outcome of the court case as a testament to the strength and integrity of Alia’s campaign, as well as a validation of the people’s mandate through the democratic process.
He expressed his admiration for Alia’s commitment to public service and called for continued efforts towards the development of Benue State.
As Governor Alia prepares to lead Benue State forward, Mark’s message serves as a reminder of the challenges and responsibilities inherent in governance, emphasizing the importance of inclusive leadership and the promotion of peace and unity for the state’s progress.
