The Diaspora Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council in Osun State has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately freeze bank accounts allegedly linked to a reported N13.7 billion ghost workers’ salary scheme in the state.
The committee made the call in a statement issued on Friday in Osogbo by its Secretary, Tunmise Ajiboye.
According to the group, a consultant engaged by the Osun State Government in 2023 to conduct a workforce audit allegedly uncovered irregular salary payments amounting to about N13.7 billion annually.

The committee claimed that the audit revealed instances where salaries of multiple workers were paid into a single bank account, describing the development as a serious financial irregularity that warrants urgent investigation.
It urged anti-corruption agencies to act swiftly to prevent the alleged diversion of public funds, warning that the money could be deployed for political activities ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election in the state.
The group also expressed concern over what it described as the silence of relevant anti-corruption agencies since the alleged discovery, calling on both the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to launch a thorough probe into the matter.
The committee further appealed to foreign missions, including those of the United States, United Kingdom and Canada, to consider imposing visa restrictions on individuals allegedly connected to the matter pending the outcome of investigations.
Reviewing the performance of the current administration, the APC Diaspora Committee said it had assessed various projects across the state and would continue mobilising support for the party’s governorship candidate ahead of the election.
The group expressed confidence in the APC’s chances in the forthcoming governorship poll and encouraged Osun indigenes in the diaspora to invest in the state to stimulate economic growth and reduce unemployment.
