De Gea Wants Man United Stay Because Of Jose Mourinho

David De Gea Hero 20141516David de Gea was reportedly leaning towards seeking a transfer away from Manchester United at the end of last season until it emerged that Jose Mourinho would be replacing Louis van Gaal as manager.

The Spain goalkeeper nearly joined Real Madrid a year earlier until the deal broke down at the last minute, which then prompted him to sign a new contract at Old Trafford.

Still, De Gea continues to be targeted by the La Liga giants, who may be ready to put together another offer for him this summer once the distraction of Saturday’s Champions League final is out of the way.

United don’t want to sell their star player and don’t believe he will try to force a move, and it seems like the presence of Mourinho at the club could help them hang on to him.

The 26-year-old had been weighing up a move away until the appointment of Mourinho persuaded him to stick it out in Manchester, according to the Daily Telegraph.

It remains to be seen if he will still be convinced by the prospect of working under the Portuguese after his mixed first season in charge, which saw the club win the EFL Cup and Europa League but finish sixth in the league, a whole 24 points behind champions Chelsea.
