Delta Air Lines has announced the launch of a new direct flight route connecting Atlanta, United States, to Marrakech, Morocco, marking a significant milestone in its continued expansion across the African continent. The move is part of Delta’s broader strategy to strengthen its global network and enhance connectivity between North America and Africa, catering to the growing demand for leisure and business travel between the two regions.
The Atlanta–Marrakech service is set to commence operations in June 2025, making Delta the first U.S. airline to offer a non-stop connection between the southeastern United States and Morocco. According to the airline, the new route will operate three times weekly, using the Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, equipped with Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin services to provide passengers with a premium travel experience.

Delta’s Senior Vice President for Network Planning, Joe Esposito, stated that the addition of the new route reflects the airline’s commitment to providing customers with more direct access to unique destinations and expanding its footprint in Africa. “We’re thrilled to be connecting Atlanta and Marrakech for the first time, opening new travel and business opportunities between the United States and Morocco,” Esposito said.
He emphasized that the new flight underscores Delta’s ongoing investment in African routes, complementing existing services to Lagos, Accra, and Cape Town. The Atlanta–Marrakech flight, he noted, would serve as a gateway for U.S. travelers seeking access to North and West Africa while also promoting cultural and economic exchange between the two continents.
The airline also revealed plans to collaborate closely with Royal Air Maroc and other local partners to facilitate smooth connections for passengers traveling beyond Marrakech to destinations across Africa and the Middle East. This partnership will allow passengers to enjoy coordinated flight schedules and streamlined baggage handling, ensuring a seamless travel experience.

She noted that increased air connectivity will stimulate tourism growth, create jobs, and foster cross-cultural exchange.
The U.S. Ambassador to Morocco, Puneet Talwar, also lauded the move, describing it as “a bridge that strengthens the long-standing relationship between Morocco and the United States.” He emphasized that improved air links would enhance bilateral cooperation and open doors for more people-to-people interaction.
