Traditional rulers in Delta State have pledged their support to security agencies in unveiling the perpetrators behind the killings of military officers in Okuama community, describing the acts as unprovoked and barbaric.
The monarchs, in a five-point communiqué issued at the end of a meeting of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers in Asaba, condemned the killings, which resulted in the deaths of officers on rescue missions.
Chairman of the council and Orodje of Okpe, Major-General Felix Mujakpuero (retd), Orhue I, expressed condolences to the families of the slain officers, the Nigerian Army, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, praying for the eternal rest of the departed souls.

The Delta monarchs urged the Delta State government to establish an independent investigative panel of inquiry to determine the immediate and remote cause of the communal crisis between Okuama and Okoloba communities.
Furthermore, they called on the Nigerian Army to conduct a thorough search for the perpetrators of the attack in line with global best practices.
The traditional rulers also appealed to the public to refrain from spreading falsehoods and unsubstantiated claims, as such actions could worsen the already delicate peace in the state.
The meeting was attended by the immediate past chairman of the council and Obi of Owa, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor II; the first vice chairman and Pere of Akugbene Mien, SP Luke Kalanama VIII; and the second vice chairman and Obi of Ubulu-Unor, Agbogodi Henry Kikachukwu I, among others.
