Diego Costa has been excluded from Chelsea’s squad for the Champions League group stage as the shameless disagreement over his future continues.
Rumours that Costa — who is still residing in his home town of Lagarto in Brazil — could yet be welcomed into the team at Stamford Bridge increased after his inclusion in Chelsea’s submitted Premier League squad list earlier this week.
Chelsea failed to agree a deal to sell Costa to Atletico Madrid before Friday’s transfer deadline in Spain, but since his name has been omitted from the Champions League list shows the English clubs are keeping the option of a January sale open.
If Costa played for Chelsea in the Champions League group stage — he would become ineligible to represent the Atletico Madrid in the competition for the rest of this season, further further damaging his potential sale value.
Last month, Diego Costa said that he believed Chelsea were pricing him out of his desired move with an unrealistic valuation.
