Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) not to interfere in the forthcoming Bayelsa and Kogi States governorship elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed November 21 and December 5 as dates for the governorship polls in Kogi and Bayelsa respectively.
The governor also warned the security agencies and the INEC against colluding with the All Progressives Congress, APC, to rig the elections, urging the relevant bodies to ensure law and order during the polls in both states, currently under the control of Peoples Democratic Party.
Speaking at the national secretariat of PDP, Abuja, after receiving his certificate of return from the acting national chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, as the PDP flag bearer for Bayelsa, Dickson said his calls were based on the conviction by most APC leaders and members that federal might could influence the outcome of the polls in the states.
While assessing the strength of the APC, Gov. Dickson said the party has no stronghold in Bayelsa, maintaining that PDP was in charge of the state and would emerge victorious in the Dec. 5 poll.
According to the governor, APC does not have a councilor, local government chairman, Senator, House of Representative member, commissioner, Special Adviser or any appointee in the state and would not be a threat to his re-election, adding that the only thing the party can boast of in the state is a member of the Bayelsa House of Assembly.
