The Department of State Services (DSS) has refuted reports circulating on social media alleging the arrest of Aisha Ahmad, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
In a statement issued, the DSS clarified that no past or present official of the CBN had been arrested within the last 48 hours.
The reports of Ahmad’s alleged arrest gained traction online on Thursday, sparking widespread speculation about the reasons behind her purported detention.

These reports, which did not originate from InfoStride News, claimed that the DSS had apprehended Ahmad in connection with an alleged fraudulent acquisition of shares in Polaris, Titan Trust, and Union banks.
According to the unverified reports, Ahmad was also linked to a $300 million deal for the complete acquisition of Union Bank, which was facilitated by Titan Bank.
The CBN and some of its former senior officials have been under scrutiny following the suspension and subsequent arrest of the apex bank’s former governor, Godwin Emefiele.
Emefiele is currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of financial impropriety during his tenure under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In response to the circulating rumors, the DSS took to X to clarify the situation, stating unequivocally that no such arrest had been made within the specified timeframe.
The DSS’s denial has prompted further questions regarding the authenticity of the initial reports and the circumstances surrounding the alleged arrest of Aisha Ahmad.
