Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State yesterday disclosed that the Dutse Airport in the state capital would start commercial flights operation from July 14, 2014.
Gov. Lamido, who disclosed this to newsmen when the Managing Director of Overland Airline, Mr. Edward Boyo, paid him a courtesy call, said the commercial flights will be within Nigeria for now while international flights will commence at a later date.
“We will launch our first commercial flight on July 14th, 2014. Arrangements have been concluded to airlift Jigawa intending pilgrims from our airport. We are willing to partner Overland Airline for the development of air travel business. We are happy that most aviation experts that visited the airport commended the level of work done there”, he said.
Speaking earlier, Mr. Boyo said the airport has the best runway and terminal in the country, adding that the state government has done a lot to develop the aviation sector.
