The Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League Championship was decided on the last day of play (Sunday 24 November) and defending champions clinched the title on a superior goal difference from Highlanders and Harare City.
In dramatic events, Harare City went into the final day’s match leading on 53 points while Dynamos and Highlanders were on 51 points. Dynamos beat Black Mambas 2-0, Highlanders won 3-1 against Shabanie but Harare City were held to a 2-2 draw by CAPS United leaving the top three on 54 points and for the third time in a row Dynamos won the championship on the goal difference.
It is Dynamos’ 20th title and the 1998 CAF Champions League runners-up who now return to represent the country in the 2014 edition of Orange CAF Champions League. Striker Simba Sithole scored both goals for Dynamos in the first half at Rufaro stadium. The loss to Dynamos meant Black Mambas were relegated on the last day of contrasting emotions for the two sides.
