The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has urged Nigerians, particularly Christians and women, to pray for the peace and economic prosperity of the country.
Jonathan’s plea was contained in an Easter message issued in Abuja on Saturday and signed by her Media Assistant, Mr Ayo Adewuyi.
She called on Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of love, peace and tolerance, saying these were the attributes of Jesus Christ.
Jonathan also urged Nigerians to seek the face of God as the Federal Government endeavoured to tackle the current challenges facing the nation.
“Let me remind Nigerians, particularly the women, of the exploits of Esther through prayers when the children of Israel were faced with many challenges and how the Lord intervened to save the Israelites,” she said.
She urged Nigerians not to leave the task of nation building to President Goodluck Jonathan alone but to support him with prayers and intercessions in order to secure divine favour for the country under his leadership.
The Easter period, she added, should be used to pray for leaders to obtain wisdom to continue to provide purposeful leadership for the nation’s peace, progress and stability. [NAN]
