The Ebonyi State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnap attempt in Abakaliki, the state capital, rescuing the victim and recovering two vehicles used in the operation.
Police spokesperson Joshua Ukandu, in a statement on Sunday, disclosed that the incident occurred on March 30, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m. when the command received a distress call about a kidnapping near Mile 50, Abakaliki.
Following the alert, operatives were swiftly deployed to track down the suspects.

According to the statement, the kidnappers were traced to Tina Nweze Street, Mile 50, Abakaliki, where they were using an ash-colored Toyota Corolla with registration number SKA 828 AA.
Under intense pressure from the pursuing officers, the kidnappers abandoned their victim along with the Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Sienna, which belonged to the victim.
The police successfully recovered the vehicles, which are now at the command headquarters for identification by their rightful owners.
Ukandu reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
