The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, was reportedly taken into custody by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday after being released from custody by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) then took him into prison.
On the other hand, when the media contacted Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC, on Friday regarding the development, he merely stated “I am yet to be briefed on the matter.”

Reports from the media imply that Emefiele is currently being questioned at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, despite the fact that there is no official proof of this that can be found.
As a result of President Bola Tinubu’s decision to suspend Emefiele in June, he has been held in jail by the DSS since that month.
After he had been suspended, the DSS made the announcement that Emefiele had been taken into jail for “some investigative reasons.”
On July 25, he was brought before a Federal High Court in Lagos, where he was charged on a two-count charge related to the “illegal possession” of firearms. The charges were brought against him for having “illegal possession” of the weapons.
After that, he was released on bail in the amount of twenty million naira.
The two counts of the charge were dropped on August 17, following the withdrawal of those charges by the Federal Government, which resulted in the dismissal of the case.
However, the Federal Government added twenty more counts against Emefiele, accusing him of conspiring to engage in procurement fraud and other criminal actions. These charges were brought against him by the Federal Government.
After Olayemi Cardoso was appointed and confirmed as the substantive governor of the top bank on September 22nd, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) officially verified Emefiele’s resignation from his position.
