EFCC have reportedly uncovered a hotel that belongs to the Zamfara State governor, Abdulaziz Yari.
The hotel, which was reportedly valued at $3million, is currently under construction as there are reports of alleged misappropriation by the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum over the London-Paris Club loan refund given to states.
A report by SaharaReporters alleged that Yari illegally diverted funds from the N19billion reportedly meant for “consultants” from the Paris club loan refund and is using part of the proceeds to construct his 100-room hotel situated in Lekki area of Lagos.
Yari, the report alleged further, embezzled the sum of N2.2 billion from the N19billion set aside illegally to pay “consultants.”
It was also reported that the EFCC officials have already marked down the hotel as proceeds of corruption and plan to take it over after obtaining a court order.
The report also alleged that apart from the $3million, Governor Yari also diverted N500 million from the Paris Club refund to pay off a loan.
This is coming barely 24 hours after Abdulrazak Barkindo, the Director of Media of the NGF debunked the reports that the NGF’s account had been frozen by a court injunction over the payment of the disgruntled consultant to the forum.
