The Ekiti State House of Assembly has imposed a fine of N1 million on former governor, Kayode Fayemi for refusing to appear before it.
The Assembly reached the decision on Tuesday, April 11, after Fayemi shunned its three summons.
The lawmakers had earlier ordered Fayemi’s arrest after securing a warrant against him.
The Ekiti Assembly has accused Fayemi of misappropriating State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) funds amounting to N852 million.
Meanwhile, Fayemi has sued the Assembly for N500 million in damages for the embarrassment and public ridicule caused by the summons and arrest warrant.
Fayemi is currently the Minister of Solid Minerals.
