It was a carnival-like sight when the appearance of Otunba Segun Adewale (OSA) a governorship aspirant in the next year’s election triggered sensational moments in several local councils in Ekiti state over the weekend as he commenced his consultation tour for his governorship bid.
Like a new bride, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Efon, Ilawe, Ikogosi, Ipole Iloro, Ado Ekiti, Itawure, Ado, Ikere etc were thrown into wild jubilation when the convoy of the governorship aspirant visited their areas.
The jubilant crowd, who relished the presence of their own, sang varying traditional rhymes that expressed their support for his (Adewale) aspiration. From the old to the young, their joy knows no bound– a reaction they made obvious in their speeches.
Otunba Adewale, CEO of Aeroland Travels Limited, a conglomerate of air-ticketing and travel consultation outfits, who embarked on the tour with hordes of aides and associates, have a field day embracing the outpour of loves and supports thrown at him by the party’s faithful who ignored the scorching sunlight to receive him in their midst.
Appearing in a well-fitted native attire, Otunba Segun Adewale, who at all times reciprocated the ecstatic crowd with beam of smiles and rousing ‘Power’, took no long to settle among his kin, declaring that “I am at ease because I am here, our home”.
During the tour, Otunba Adewale held both public and closed-door meetings with members and leaders of the PDP as well as different groups in the councils visited, where he engaged them on his plan for the Ekiti, promising to make the state work for all. He insisted that Ekiti has potentials to be great.
He assured that if given the mandate in the next year governorship election, he would deplore his vast experience and financial ingenuity to convert the underutilized potentials possessed by the state into an opportunity, declaring that it is time to convert knowledge possessed in abundance by the state into wealth.
Highlights of the tour saw Otunba Adewale showered gifts, such as phones, LED TVs, to people in the councils visited, just as he held separate session with the aged and children, whom he doled out cash as presents for the yuletides season celebration.
