Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed speculation about his potential presidential ambition, stating that while he is qualified to contest, he has never discussed such plans with anyone.
El-Rufai made the remark on Monday evening during an interview on Arise TV’s Prime Time, addressing concerns over his recent meetings with opposition figures.
The former governor recently held talks with members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna, as well as former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

However, he ruled out any possibility of joining the PDP, emphasizing that his stance on the party remains unchanged.
“Anyone from the age of 35 with a secondary school certificate is qualified to run for president, so in that sense, I am qualified,” El-Rufai stated.
“But have I started talking to anybody about running for any office? No. I have never discussed that with anybody.
“PDP is not a party I would consider joining. I thought about it long ago and made my decision. Nothing has changed,” he added.
