A group of people who memorise and recite the Quran have petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to not swear in Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State.
To prevent swearing in unjust politicians, Sheikh Sidi Aliyu Sise, Director of Education at the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation, pleaded with Tinubu.
He felt that the screening of El-Rufai by the National Assembly and his nomination were unfair to those who had memorised and recited the Qur’an.

He said El-rufa’i, as governor, had abused his power to oppress the people of Almajirai.
He urged Tinubu to lead Nigeria with fairness in mind.
The Sheikh of Kaduna, Nigeria, Sheikh Sidi, stated, “We demand for justice as a result of injustice, harassment, trauma, and difficulties encountered by our disciples, teachers, and many Qur’anic scholars, when he evacuated our innocent pupils from the House of Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi in Kaduna to an unknown destination.”
He claimed that if El-rufa’i were to be sworn in as minister, it would show that Tinubu approves of the mistreatment they received from El-rufa’i’s tenure as governor.
