Elections Are Contests Among Brothers – Jonathan

    Goodluck Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has advised Nigerians to be mindful of the words they use, encouraging good and peaceable words, as the general elections were contests among brothers and sisters.

Jonathan wrote this on his official Facebook page, where he called for peaceful polls as Nigerians prepare to choose their next set of leaders.

“I want to remind us all that we have no other country other than Nigeria and as we approach the elections, it is wise that we speak good and peaceable words over Nigeria because we will have to eat our words. So let us make them sweet rather than bitter.

“We must see the coming polls as a contest amongst brothers and sisters from the womb of one Nigeria.”

Jonathan also urged political gladiators to avoid the use of threats and desperation in their campaign. He said whatever the outcome of the polls, victory should be for Nigeria and Nigerians.

The presidential election holds on March 28, after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) postponed it from the previously scheduled February 14, citing security issues.
