A community leader in Ijebu-Ode, Alhaji Folorunso Elias has called on homeowners who built their houses illegally to take advantage of the Homeowners’ Charter Programme recently introduced by the State Government to obtain required documents while the programme lasted.
Alhaji Elias, a former Secretary of Community Development Council in the State made the call during a sensitization programme in Ijebu Ode, describing it as a succour for them to obtain the documents at a cheaper rate.
He said the programme was a rare opportunity and hope restorer for home owners in this category who failed to obtain relevant documents such as Survey, Approved building Plan and Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) to do so without stress.
“Let us take advantage of this rare opportunity to right the wrongs of the past; it is cheaper, convenient and affordable. Government has said that all one needs to pay is N95,000 to obtain all these documents for a four bedroom flat as against N430,000. If you fail to do it now, it means you will pay that much after the programme lapsed” Elias said.
He lauded Governor Amosun for the initiative, saying it is another demonstration that his administration cares for the people and would not subject them to unnecessary hardship.
Earlier in his presentation, the face of the government on the programme, Mr. Gbolade Badejo emphasised that it was a well thought out arrangement to allow owners of properties built without required approvals and owner of properties built illegally on lands belonging to the State Government to obtain all required documents at discounted rate which is as high as 78%.
He debunked speculations in some quarters that government wanted to use the programme to generate revenue and urged those who fall into the category to approach designated banks and centres to purchase their forms at N5, 000.
According to him, the exercise would enable the State government generate an accurate data to come up with a reliable database needed for planning purposes.

Governor Amosun is just not the governor Ogun State needs. He has done nothing throughout his stay as governor.
