The Emir of Katsina, Abdullmumini Kabir Usman during the turbaning of the Governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shehu Shema as the Sarkin Fulani Katsina I on Saturday January 25, 2014 at the Kofar Soro Emir’s Palace in Katsina State has appealed for peaceful co-existence among the people, stressing that without peace, there would be no meaningful development.
Abdullmumini Kabir Usman also remarked that the conferment of the exalted title of Sarkin Fulanin Katsina on the Governor was in recognition of his laudable achievements and the people – oriented programmes of his administration.
The Emir called on all leaders to be faithful to the mandate given to them by their people, saying people should always respect their leaders and pray for peace and tranquility in the country. “The title of Sarkin Fulani is an exalted position in the Katsina Emirate Council with its roots in the Sokoto Caliphate,” he explained.
The Vice President, Mohammed Namadi Sambo represented President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan at the occasion. Other dignitaries at the event comprised: governors, top government functionaries, legislators, royal fathers and well wishers.
