The Enugu State government has announced the postponement of the promotion examination originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, 3rd February 2024, following the bye-elections slated to be held in some parts of the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the same day.
Robinson Odo, the Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, made the announcement on Friday at his office in Enugu.
He clarified that the interview exercise for workers due for promotion would proceed as planned, as the date does not conflict with the elections.

Odo stated that the commission has rescheduled the promotion examination to take place on Saturday, 10th February, as the new date.
While expressing regret over the postponement, Odo encouraged civil servants and other workers in the state to utilize the opportunity to exercise their voting rights by choosing candidates who align with the state’s interests.
“We have postponed the Civil Service Commission Examination, known as the promotion examination for workers in Enugu State, initially scheduled to be held tomorrow, for two reasons: to allow the peaceful conduct of the by-elections in some parts of our state slated by the INEC, and to also afford workers the opportunity to exercise their franchise.
“The new date for the promotion examination is now 10th February 2024, which is next Saturday. However, the interview exercise will continue as the date does not clash with the elections.
“I urge our workers to conduct themselves peacefully, abstain from violence, and vote for candidates whose interests align with the overall interest of our people,” he emphasized.
