The indigenes of Enugwu Nanka, located in the Nanka community of Orumba North Local Government Area in Anambra State, have reached out to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, seeking urgent intervention to address the escalating violence in their community.
In a Save Our Soul (SOS) letter addressed to the governor and signed by Joe Omehaa, Chairman, and Peter Godson Oforkansi, Secretary, of the Enugwu Nanka village, the community highlighted a concerning trend of killings and attempted assassinations.
The letter expressed the village’s distress over the growing division within Nanka, with powerful individuals allegedly silencing the majority for upholding the truth.

The letter cited specific incidents, including the murder of a 25-year-old man named Mr. Toochukwu Onyemelukwe at the Enugwu Nanka Village square, allegedly due to his affiliation with an opposing faction of the village union.
It also mentioned the case of Mr. Martin Okeke, who reported the murder to the police and subsequently faced multiple assassination attempts.
Furthermore, the community lamented the recent killing of a politician, Mr. Joe Mohale, by unknown gunmen.
They claimed that Mr. Mohale’s association with a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Princess Chinwe Nnabuife, had led to his assassination despite advice against such affiliations.
The group urged Governor Soludo to initiate a thorough investigation into the series of killings in Nanka and the reasons behind the multiple factions within the town union, which they believe have led to disorder and desecration in the community.
Addressing the issue of factions within the community, the group expressed concerns about the potential collapse of their town if the situation is not addressed promptly.
They called for the police to be allowed to conduct unbiased investigations into the crimes committed in Nanka.
The plea from Enugwu Nanka highlights the urgent need for intervention to restore peace and security in the community, as well as to address the underlying causes of the violence and factionalism that threaten its stability.
