Enyimba midfielder Kinglsey Sokari is confident his team can overcome Buffles du Borgou of Benin Republic on Sunday at the Enyimba Stadium in a first leg 2015 Caf Champions League preliminary round match.
.
Sokari, who scored a beautiful free kick in the Peoples Elephant’s last warm-up match against Abia Warriors in preparation for the game, is optimistic the 2003 and 2004 winners will come good on Sunday.
.
“We are fully prepared for the game. I believe we will win convincingly come Sunday,” he told supersport.com.
.
“Last season’s experience in the Champions League will help us to do better this time round. I want the fans to be behind us and give us their support.
.
“Nigerian football has been on a low recently, we hope to put smiles on the faces of our fans and supporters.”
.
Enyimba had a yo-yo performance at the recent Super Four tournament in Abuja and there has been news that the players are disenchanted with the lack of payment of the entitlements.
.
Sokari, however, feels that will not count for anything as the team is fully focused on the game on Sunday and starting the competition on a good note.
.
“We have our issues, yes, but that isn’t something that is on our minds right now. All we are focused on is the game on Sunday,” Sokari said.
.
“The boys are fired up, I’m also looking forward to the game with great anticipation. I hope I can score in the game, but I also wish we can win with a big margin so it will put us in a good stead as we head to the second leg.
.
“Let me also add that we have been paid a percentage of our entitlements, so that will also ginger us to victory.”
.
The return leg against Buffles will be in Benin on the weekend of February 27.
