Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata could be on his way to Everton following the arrival of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Mata, sold to United from Chelsea by Mourinho in 2014, knows he does not have a future under the new regime.
It says Everton and their new boss Ronald Koeman “are trying to convince Mata” to switch to Goodison Park in a deal that would cost around £20 million and see him reunited with a coach with whom he worked at Valencia.
United’s busy summer is set to get even busier when they sign Pachuca forward Hirving Lozano after the Olympics, according to the Manchester Evening News.
It quotes the Mexico international’s father-in-law as telling Futbol Entre Lineas that the 20-year-old’s move will soon “become official.”
Meanwhile, Mourinho is reported to be keeping tabs on highly rated Derby midfielder Will Hughes.
The Sun says United have “asked to be kept informed of Hughes’ progress,” with the 21-year-old having returned from a long-term injury in April.
England under-21 international Hughes would cost around £7m, and the report adds that United feel he “could be part of the first-team setup.”
