Former Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, has condemned the recent bandit attacks on communities in the state on Christmas Eve, describing the assailants as having a cleansing agenda to take over the land.
In a statement issued by his media consultant, Clinton Garuba, on Saturday, Jang expressed concern over the orchestrated attacks aimed at disrupting the peace and serenity that the people of Plateau State deserve.
Jang reiterated the urgent need for the Federal Government to consider the establishment of state police as part of measures to address insecurity.

He emphasized that state police would enable a more effective and timely response to crises, including the recent killings on the Plateau.
The former governor lamented the continuous killings and called for the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators to prevent further violence.
He expressed his condolences to the families who lost loved ones during the attacks, stating that the incidents deeply saddened him.
Jang urged the National Assembly to prioritize the issue of state policing, emphasizing the importance of empowering states to create, train, and equip their police forces to tackle security challenges effectively.
