A former Public Relations Officer of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the South West zone, Badmus Kilamuwaye, has formally joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Kilamuwaye announced his defection in a statement made available to journalists on Monday, just weeks after he resigned from the NNPP.
Describing his move as a “progressive alignment aimed at contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s democratic growth,” Kilamuwaye said his decision followed deep reflection on the current political realities in the country.

He emphasized that his defection was not motivated by personal ambition but by a desire to help strengthen Nigeria’s democracy through a more people-oriented political platform.
“Politics for me has always been about interest, service to humanity, and not sentiments,” Kilamuwaye stated. “After much consultation with my supporters and mentors, I have decided to join the Peoples Democratic Party, a platform that offers genuine opportunities for youth participation, inclusiveness, and national unity.”
While expressing appreciation for his time in the NNPP, Kilamuwaye said it was a period of learning and service. He, however, maintained that Nigeria’s progress requires aligning with parties that possess the structure, experience, and reach to deliver real development to the people.
