A former Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Ebonyi Central Zone, Hon. Lazarus Ogbee, has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, along with over 3,000 of his loyalists.
The defection, which took place on Monday, marked the end of the leading opposition PDP in Ezza South Local Government Area.
This development comes on the heels of former Senator Obinna Ogba and House of Representatives aspirant Obinna Nwachukwu joining the ruling APC in the lshielu Local Government Area of the state two weeks ago.

Speaking after the defection ceremony at Unueke, the Ezza South Local Government Area Headquarters, Ogbee commended Governor Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for the various ongoing projects in the state.
He clarified that his decision to defect was not to destabilize the PDP but to collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen the APC in Ezza South.
Ogbee, a former two-term House of Representatives member for Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency, expressed gratitude to the APC state Chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha, for receiving him and his supporters into the party.
Receiving the defectors, Emegha emphasized that the APC’s doors are open to welcome everyone and called on all politicians and citizens in Ezza South to set aside their differences and focus on building a stronger, more prosperous future for the state.
He urged members not to restrict or segregate against opposition party members but to embrace inclusivity for the benefit of all.
