Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has expressed sadness on the death of THIS Day correspondent in the state, Alhaji Toba Suleiman.
Fayemi in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode, described the death of Suleiman as “very shocking, unbelievable and demoralizing”.
The Governor described Suleiman as a courageous, resourceful, objective and hard working journalist who contributed immensely to the media profession.
He said Suleiman brought his over twenty year experience in journalism to bear in covering critical issues in the Ekiti polity in the last eight years of practice in the Land of Honour.
Fayemi said he enjoyed a good working relationship with the late THIS Day reporter whom he said struck a balance in covering both the government in power and the opposition. He said Suleiman’s experience, counsel and suggestions on the development of Ekiti would be sorely missed by his sudden demise.
The Governor prayed God to grant the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased especially the State NUJ, the Correspondent Chapel and the Thisday Newspapers the fortitude to bear the loss.
He said the deceased was faithful to the ethics of the journalism profession and distinguished himself in the various states where he practised.
Fayemi said the entire state is mourning the death of Suleiman whom he described as a patriot who used his profession to contribute meaningfully to the development of his country.
