Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revealed that the FCT Administration will waive taxes for diplomatic missions in Abuja. This decision mirrors the exemption of Nigeria’s diplomatic missions abroad from taxes.
Wike made this announcement during a meeting with the Ambassador of Cote D’Ivoire to Nigeria, Kalilou Traore, in Abuja.
He assured the ambassador, saying, “Let me also say that the issue of tax will be waived. I will call the authority that is responsible for cooperation with you on this issue.

I know that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has told me that the same thing applies to them in the other countries where they operate. So, that will not be an issue.”
Ambassador Kalilou Traore, who visited to discuss the embassy’s plans to develop its land in Maitama District, expressed the mission’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire.
He also proposed twinning Abuja with Yamoussoukro, the political capital of Cote D’Ivoire, as a means to deepen the ties between the two countries.
