Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested two notorious armed robbery suspects terrorising residents of the nation’s capital.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that the arrests followed a distress call about an ongoing robbery at Royal Court Estate, Jahi II, on March 27, 2025.
According to Adeh, police officers responded swiftly to the scene and were met with gunfire from the suspects. However, the robbers were overpowered by the operatives’ superior firepower and attempted to escape with gunshot injuries.
“A hot pursuit ensued, leading to the arrest of two suspects — Rabiu Jubril and Ibrahim Isa — both residents of Tipper Garage, Jahi,” the statement said.
The police recovered two locally made firearms and three suspected stolen vehicles: a black Toyota Matrix (Reg. No. NBS 348 CP), a black Toyota Venza (Reg. No. ABJ 105 AV), and a grey Lexus IS350 (Reg. No. RSH 295 CB).
Other items recovered from the suspects include two MacBook Pro laptops, one Lenovo laptop, an iPad, a PS4 gaming console, a Canon IP1224 camera, and a drone camera.
SP Adeh confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, commended the swift response of the operatives and urged residents to adopt proactive security measures, including the installation of tracking devices in vehicles.
“This significantly enhances recovery efforts in the unfortunate event of theft or robbery,” the statement added.
