While briefing State House correspondents immediately after the Federal Executive Council meeting, the Minister of Information, Sen. Patricia Naomi Akwashiki told reporters that Council considered and ratified the award of contracts for the rehabilitation/erosion control works at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kubanni Dam Water Supply Lake, Kaduna State and Gullies/Erosion Control works at the Eastern Naval Command Headquarters, Calabar, Cross River State. She further stated that the projects will enhance the provision of potable and safe water for the benefiting communities.
Sen. Akwashiki stated that Council ratified the award of contracts for work package a (Project Works), Work Package B (Construction of Access Road – Lots A14 and A15/Internal Road Network and Drainages) and work package C (Construction of Library) at the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State, in line with Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government.
The Minister told reporters that Council also considered and approved the award of contract for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of complete Integrated System of Signaling and Telecommunications Equipment for Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri Standard Gauge Railway Line in Kogi and Delta States.
The Minister told reporters that Council had approved the contracts for the Phase II of the expansion and completion of the TETFUND intervention projects and the supply, installation and training of personnel in public Universities. She further stated that these projects will enhance capacity building in the educational sector.
Sen. Akwashiki told State House correspondents that following the outcome of the 2015 General Elections, the President had constituted a Transition Committee and an Inauguration Committee to ensure a smooth handover to the incoming administration. Speaking further, she stated that a circular had been issued to MDAs to submit handover notes to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on or before Monday, 20th April, 2015.
