The wife of Ekiti State Governor, Mrs. Feyisetan Fayose has counseled teachers and principals of senior secondary schools across
the state not to relent efforts in encouraging girl-child to take up career in science related courses.
Mrs. Fayose gave the counsel at the maiden edition of the science quiz competition for senior secondary school girls organized by the Ekiti State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in Ado-Ekiti.
The Governor’s wife noted that as women, the girl-child is the future nation builders, hence the need to brace up and confront any
challenge they may encounter in the science field.
Stressing that the field should not be left to men alone, she said they should be guided by the adage “what a man can do, a woman
can do better”.
The first lady assured the organizers of the competition (NAWOJ) of their inclusion in the policies and programmes of the present administration.
In her welcome address, the Chairperson of the Ekiti State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Mrs.
Oluwayomi Osuntokun said the programme was organized to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the association.
She expressed appreciation to the wife of the governor for actively supporting the association and its programmes.
St. Louis Girls Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti came first in the competition while Mater-Christi Girls Secondary School, Igede-Ekiti
came second and Christ’s Girls Secondary School, Ado-Ekiti came third.
The high point of the event was the inauguration of the wife of the Governor as matron of the association.
