Sanity returns to the end of Ogere Lagos-Ibadan expressway as tankers and other big related vehicles parked along the road are being removed.
The Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway is notorious for traffic gridlock, often as a result of tankers and trailers parked illegally on the road.
The scenario suggests that there is a high level of compliance with the presidential order. Assistant Col. Commander, Oluwatoyi Ogwulano who has been leading the team-unit in the enforcement provided an update.
A federal task force comprising the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Police and other security agencies is mandated to enforce this directive.
The approach deployed by the FRSC at the instance of the enforcement is to convey a meeting in Ogere to sensitize drivers and owners of multiple trucks, as well as other stakeholders on the directive, and persuade them to comply.
The illegal parking of these trucks is affecting the ongoing construction of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The FRSC Col. Commander, Boboye O Oyeyemi has expressed happiness over the voluntary compliance by truck drivers without being forced.
Presently, there are 25 trailers, parked at the Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, but these parks are not legal.
