    FG sets to partner Chinese investors to float national carrier

    Samuel Ortom IndustryAbuja (Federal Ministry of Aviation Report) – The Supervising Minister of Aviation, Samuel Ortom has said that the Nigerian Government is set to partner with Chinese Investors to float a national carrier.

    The Minister said this on Tuesday July 1, 2014 when some Chinese investors visited him in his office in Abuja. He added that the partnership would have both the public and private sectors as stakeholders in the project.

    Samuel Ortom promised that the government would create conducive environment for investors in the aviation industry, insisting that Government is willing to work with genuine investors to float the national carrier which the country seriously needs.
    The Minister further said it is gratifying to note that the Chinese aviation experts and bankers were in the country to further explore the opportunities for collaboration in the aviation sector.

    Prior to the discussion, the Minister of State for Aviation noted that the partnership will involve all the stakeholders in the private and public sectors in the deliberations and negotiations. He mentioned that the experts from the Government would include officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Nigerian Airspace Management Authority (NAMA).
     
    He added that the meeting of the Chinese and technical experts will culminate into a stable aviation industry in the nation, explaining that it will continue till Thursday July 3, 2014 in Abuja.

    In a remark made at the occasion, the Director – General of the China Development Bank and the Managing Director of China Academy of Civil Aviation Science Technology, Wang Wensug and Zhu Nuo expressed the confidence that the discussion would yield tremendous economic benefits to Nigeria. According to her, China is ready to go into strategic partnership with Nigeria, especially in the area of aviation because of the pool of expertise that the collaboration will bring to bear. He concluded by saying that China’s economic partnership was not hinged on exploitation, but on win-win situation.
