Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has urged the Federal Government to pay greater attention to the welfare of Nigerian soldiers.
Bello made the call on Sunday, November 20, while visiting the family of late army hero, Lt. Col Muhammad Abu Ali in Kaduna.
“We must give honour to whom it is due and our soldiers deserve the best of everything. They give up their comfort, happiness and families just to keep the rest of us safe,” the governor said.
“They must be encouraged and I call on the Federal Government to make their welfare and that of the families of the soldiers that we lose top priority. No member of a soldier’s family should suffer financially when we they die,” he added.
Governor Bello also paid a condolence visit to the late hero’s father, Brigadier General Abu Ali at his palace at Bassa-Nge, Kogi state.
Lt. Col Abu Ali was killed by Boko Haram on Friday, November 4 at Mallam Fatori in Borno State.
