Operatives from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, along with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), are currently on the scene working to contain the blaze.
The extent of the damage is yet to be fully determined, but the fire has reportedly affected several structures within the market.
An X user, Adedeji Olalekan, provided real-time updates on the situation, stating, “Okobaba Street is on fire now, all the shanties are burning.”
As of now, there is no official confirmation of casualties or the cause of the fire.
However, the swift response from the emergency services is expected to prevent further escalation.
More details are anticipated as authorities continue to manage the incident and assess the aftermath.
